I don't know about you, but I never get anything fun in the mail anymore. So when my friend was having a blue week, I wanted to send her something to brighten her day. And what is more fun than a care package? I love receiving a personalized letter or card in my letterbox but a care package can't be beat as it gives you little surprises upon more surprises as you dig through the box. It's a scavenger hunt for goodies!
This care page can be easily put together and it is very affordable and customizable. For this particular one, since it is themed on Sunshine, I kept it simple with yellow and blue items that were pretty much all food based. I added Chicken and Dumpling soup, fruit snack cups, cookies, candy, soothing tea an chocolate mixes. Snacking on yummy treats has to brighten your day right? You fill the box with items from anywhere - I stopped by the Dollar Tree, Target, and Trader Joe's.
I created a simple design for the sun with a little message on it to place on the bottom of the box.
I used Illustrator to create my design but you can always use free clip art from the web and PowerPoint to great your own graphics easily. To make the box pretty, I also covered the inside with yellow paper and printed the words "A Little Box of Sunshine" to go on the box flaps. Some of the goodies were placed into Ziploc bags and for the bag labels I also just used some clip art of yellow and blue patterned designs and printed them in 7" x 4" rectangles. Once you cut out the rectangle, just fold it in half horizontally and staple it over the top of the bag. I wrapped some items with ribbon and you could also wrap them in tissue paper as well. You can download a free printable of the bag toppers, sun decorations, box bottom graphic and more by clicking here.
That's such a sweet idea. I did a box of red things for my Aunt and Uncles Ruby anniversary a few years ago. I actually think it cost me more to post than the things inside cost but they liked it and it was fun to find all the things.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sunshine for no special reason though. Pinning.
I love your idea as well! I definitely would send a care package filled with a friend's favorite color or even a hobby box filled with different things regarding someone's favorite past time. And yes, it did cost just as much to send the package as to fill it, but I think it's a much more thoughtful present than a pre-bought one!
DeleteI sent something like this to a friend once and it was so cute all put together. I love it! Color themed gifts are just really fun for me. haha I love that little smiley face balloon!
